The University News Cycle (Season 10 Episode 4)

For my second season as Executive Producer of The University News Cycle, CitrusTV’s satire news show, my goal was growth. Longer episodes, more equipment, higher quality, and more ambitious comedy. I’m proud to say we did just that. Improvement, though, starts with the people. Season X had the highest member count in the history of the show, both thanks to our dedicated older members and recruitment efforts for younger members. I was grateful every day to lead such a talented, passionate crew.

This episode in particular is one of our favorites (confirmed by an almost unanimous poll), and it’s not hard to see why. We incporporated more involved props, costumes, and visual effects. With each and every segment, the writers took risks that really paid off. I am proud to facilitate an environment where our whole team has the freedom to be themselves and create comedy that is authentic to all of us.

As Executive Producer, I coordinated and led every shoot, both in the CitrusTV studio and on location. I also provided continuous notes to the writers to ensure each sketch was at its best before entering production, and I managed all pre-production, production, and post-production schedules. For our in-studio shoot, I serve as both the director, which means I provide creative notes to the actors, and I am also the studio manager, coordinating graphcis, audio, and camera teams from the production booth.

Comparing this episode to last season, I am in awe of how far we’ve come as a show, and I can’t wait to keep going. I am honored to be returning for my third season as Executive Producer. We have big plans for Season XI, so stay tuned!
